Bill Belichick shoots down Giants, NFL rumors and reaffirms commitment to UNC

Bill Belichick has spoken — and says he’s not going anywhere.
The North Carolina football coach reaffirmed his commitment to the Tar Heels and shot down any notion that he is interested in working for the Giants after Big Blue fired Brian Daboll this week.
Belichick, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants as an assistant coach before his legendary run with the Patriots, made his intentions clear in a statement on his Instagram account on Friday night.
“I have great respect and genuinely care for the New York Giants organization and both the Mara and Tisch families,” he wrote. “The New York Giants played an important role in my life and in my coaching journey. It was a privilege for me to work for the Mara family and be a member of Coach Parcells staff for over a decade. However, despite circulating rumors, I have not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies.
North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick calls a timeout during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Syracuse, Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, in Syracuse, N.Y. AP
“Since arriving in Chapel Hill, my commitment to the UNC Football program has not [wavered]. We have tremendous support from the university, our alumni, and the entire Carolina community. My focus remains solely on continuing to improve this team, develop our players, and build a program that makes Tar Heel fans proud.”
He concluded the statement in the most Belichickian way possible.
“We’re on to Wake Forest,” he wrote.
