Shubman Gill Walks Off Injured After Just THREE Balls During 1st Test vs South Africa

In a bizarre turn of events, India captain Shubman Gill walked off injured just after playing three balls on Day 2 of the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata on November 15 (Saturday). After Washington Sundar was dismissed, Gill played a couple of balls in a watchful manner before sweeping Simon Harmer into the fence. However, he felt something in his neck area and immediately called for the physio.

After a quick check on the field, Gill decided to walk off on 4 off 3 deliveries, allowing Rishabh Pant to walk in. The extent of the injury is yet to be determined, but India will hope that their captain makes a swift recovery and is able to play a part in the match and the series.

Gill is the leading test run-getter in 2025 with 983 runs at 63.70, which includes as many as five hundreds and a fifty in 16 innings.

KL Rahul and Sundar put on 57 for the second wicket before off-spinner Harmer struck in his first over of the day after Inia lost Yahasvi Jaiswal early on Day 1.

On Day 1, South Africa were bowled out for just 159, despite being 57/0 at one stage. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 5/27
