Adam Peaty’s stag do ended with police meeting him off the plane as he landed back in the UK from Budapest.The Olympic swimmer is in the middle of a family feud ahead of his wedding to Holly Ramsay – daughter of celebrity chef Gordon.Reports suggested five armed officers escorted him through Manchester Airport on Sunday night after he received threatening messages but Greater Manchester Police have now clarified their involvement.In a statement given to ITV Central, GMP said: “Two unarmed, uniformed police officers from the neighbourhood team spoke to a passenger upon landing prior to border control.“They obtained details to record a public order crime, as is normal practice for a potential victim of a reported crime.“There were no issues with the travelling party and they exited the airport via a pre-booked taxi. The party was not escorted through or placed into a police vehicle.”
The public order crime is now being dealt with by police in his home county of Staffordshire.The family row is said to have been building for months and has come to a head as Adam’s mum Caroline was ‘disinvited’ to the December wedding.She told ITV News Central: “Family are everything to me and I’m hurt beyond belief.”Adam Peaty has been contacted for comment.
