‘Nothing could have prepared us’ Niamh Cullen shares husband Jamie’s cancer diagnosis

Niamh Cullen has previously spoken about how her marriage to her hubby, Jamie Gill, got off to a ‘turbulent start’ due to his health woes, and now, one year down the line, she’s ready to talk about it.
The couple tied the knot on November 8, 2025, in Borgo Di Tragliata, Italy, and later jetted to Rome for what was supposed to be their minimoon, a dream vacation.
Just as the couple checked into the St Regis Rome, Jamie’s health took a turn, and the newlyweds ended up spending ten days in the hospital before returning to Ireland.

Over the past year, Jamie has been in and out of hospital. On Friday, shortly after marking their first wedding anniversary, Niamh decided it was time to talk about her hubby’s health battle.
Niamh revealed to her followers that ‘our worlds shattered in an instant’ when Jamie was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour, and later battled pneumonia, which turned into sepsis.

After undergoing chemotherapy, unfortunately, Jamie’s cancer returned. Niamh has praised her hubby as a ‘fighter’ and said: ‘We will not give up.’
The fitness influencer penned: ‘Last weekend marked one year of our marriage. Nothing could have prepared us for the journey that was ahead.
‘On day three of our wedding, Jamie became seriously unwell. What was meant to be a minimoon in Rome turned into ten days in hospital.
‘We returned home, where Jamie had some scans and conversations about next steps.’

‘Just two weeks before Christmas, Jamie underwent major surgery where doctors discovered a cancerous tumour. Our world shattered in an instant, but we stayed strong. Jamie bravely faced 10 rounds of chemotherapy,’ Niamh continued.
‘There were ups and downs along the way, but nothing could have prepared us for what followed after his 10th session. He was rushed into hospital by ambulance, where he developed pneumonia that turned sepsis, just hours after his chemotherapy.
‘It was scary and really not good. Not long after, he was rushed again to hospital with unbearable pain. We were given the devastating news the cancer had returned.’

‘My world feels broken, my blood still runs cold, but I know this: my husband is a fighter. We will not give up,’ Niamh said.
Separately, in a caption, Niamh said: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be able to articulate Jamie’s strength throughout this entire journey. He never ceases to amaze me with his incredible positive outlook and mindset, even in the darkest moments.
‘It’s been unimaginably tough seeing the person you love suffer and to feel so helpless. I get these waves of guilt daily because all I want to do is just swap places or take it away, But I can’t.’

‘My husband is my inspiration, my hero and I love so much being his wife,’ Niamh sweetly said. ‘In sickness and in health, I know and pray that positive things are coming.
‘They have to be, you deeply deserve it. Thanks for the support and patience. It’s been the most difficult time as newlyweds. We will not give up .’
