Dhruv Jurel falls for 14 to a stunning caught & bowled from Simon Harmer in IND vs SA 2025 1st Test [Watch]

Dhruv Jurel failed to continue his red-hot form with the bat on Day 2 of the series opener between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, November 15. The right-handed batter departed for a run-a-ball 14 as the hosts lost half their side for 153.

The dismissal came in the 49th over of India’s first innings and the fourth over after lunch break. Simon Harmer bowled a tossed-up delivery around off-stump, and Jurel was beaten in flight. He played it straight back to Harmer, who completed the catch millimetres above the ground. The TV umpire cross-checked, and the catch was deemed fair. The Proteas team celebrated in delight following their fourth wicket of the day.

Jurel’s failure came despite him scoring twin unbeaten centuries for India A against South Africa A in the second practice game. The wicketkeeper-batter also slammed his maiden ton against the West Indies last month. His recent form prompted the team management to include him in the XI despite regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s comeback. Jurel will be looking to make it count if India bats again in the opening Test against the Proteas.
