Talking points

Perth’s struggles at home
For the majority of the Wildcats’ 43 years in the NBL, Perth, and lately RAC Arena, have been a fortress.

Not this season though, with John Rillie’s side only winning one of four matches in The Jungle, compared to 5-2 on the road.

Now that Rillie’s roster is settled, will the Wildcats repay their loyal fans with a home win on Saturday?

Breakers’ road record
During the NBL26 season, the Breakers have only won two of their six away matches.

That includes Wednesday’s convincing Ignite Cup win over Brisbane on the Gold Coast, which signals that this record might be about to change.

Especially the way Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Sam Mennenga, who are both in the All-NBL Teams mix, are performing on the court.

What they’re saying

Wildcats coach John Rillie’s on his side’s 1-3 home record in NBL26:
“We’ve been disappointing at home this year. We need to come out and have a great home performance.

“This has been the first home game in a long time where we’ve been able to have a nice build-up to it.”

Breakers coach Petteri Koponen on the way his team would like to play:
“It was beautiful basketball [against Brisbane] and we did it collectively, and everybody was alert at the defensive end and we got stops.

“Then we got to the open court and we shared the ball, we made quick decisions and sometimes basketball is also simple.

“When you get open shots, it is about if you can knock them down and today we shot the ball pretty well and we also got to the paint.”

“It was a solid 40 minutes and especially that first 20 minutes was really good, we set the tone from the beginning and we got to our pace, and got exactly the rhythm of how we want to play.”
