TV tonight: Nicôle Lecky’s blood-soaked private school drama

Wild Cherry

9pm, BBC One

Gossip Girl meets Boarders – with a splash of blood – in this dark private school takedown by Bafta-winning writer Nicôle Lecky. It follows two wealthy pupils at Richford Lake, Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May), who are pulled up by the teachers for a shocking video being shared among pupils. But when their mothers come in, Juliet (Eve Best) and Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), it’s clear that there are dramas at home, too. Hollie Rchardson

Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, 4pm, ITV1

Carrie Fisher’s untimely death before shooting means that the final instalment in JJ Abrams’s trilogy loses the Leia-guided focus that would have neatly tied off the series (following episodes seven and eight’s reliance on Han and Luke). So the love-hate relationship between new Jedi Rey (Daisy Ridley) and bad boy Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) has to do the heavy lifting amid all the planet-hopping quests and CGI wonders. And it’s best not to wonder how ex-emperor Palpatine could be back – just enjoy another gleefully evil cameo from Ian McDiarmid. SW
