$1 million dollar lottery ticket sold in Pulaski County; jackpot increases

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A lucky person bought a Powerball ticket for a drawing on Wednesday evening, November 12, and it ended up matching all but one of the numbers making it worth $1 million, according to the Virginia Lottery.
The winning ticket was bought at 7-Eleven in the 4600 block of Cleburn Blvd. in Dublin, the Virginia Lottery said.
The winning numbers for the Wednesday drawing were: 29-39-43-51-65, and the Powerball number was 23. The ticket matched the first five numbers and missed only the the Powerball number making it worth $1 million, according to lottery officials.
The lucky winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize. The lottery advises to sign the back of the ticket to claim ownership before doing anything else. As soon as the winner is ready to claim their prize, he or she should contact the office.
Lottery officials say the ticket sold in Pulaski County was the only ticket to match the first five numbers in the drawing and one of only two in the entire country. No ticket matched all six numbers to win the $512 million jackpot. Saturday’s drawing is growing to an estimated $546 million.
The 7-Eleven store will receive a $10,000 bonus from Virginia Lottery for selling the ticket.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia, the lottery says. Pulaski County received more than $4.5 million in lottery funds for K-12 education in the last fiscal year.
$901 million dollars was raised for K-12 education in Virginia, making up at least 10% of the overall budget in the commonwealth, according to the Virginia Lottery.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.
