And now the Heart Skips a Beat singer is considering having a fight of his own, revealing: “We’ve spoken about it.
“I’ve said to Sam, ‘If an opportunity came up, what do you think?’ Because, at the end of the day, if Sam said, ‘Look Olly, I’ll be honest with you, you’re shocking.’ Then I wouldn’t.
“But, to be fair, we’ve had some good, honest chats.”
Spurs fan Gilley, who fights Ishmael Davis on Saturday at Tottenham’s stadium, looked at Murs and said: “I’ll be honest with you, Olly…”

The pair broke out into laughter before Gilley, 31, said: “No listen, he wants to test himself with whatever he does, whether it be football, music, he wants to push boundaries.
“He is the type of person that could have a fight, there’s no doubt about that. He’s fit enough, it’s all down to whether he wants to take that jump.
“But he wants to test himself and the more he’s around this sort of environment is the more he talks about it.
“So I do think one day we will see him in there.”

Murs is due to start sparring for the first time – where he will find out whether boxing is truly for him or not.
He said: “I’ve been doing it for three years. This year will be the first year I start sparring and start going for it properly.
“I’ve been doing body sparring and working on my technique and my footwork. I know my fitness is there, it’s not about that, it’s about working on the technical side.
“Like Sam’s said, it’s a completely different kettle of fish once you get punched in the face, that’s when you really realise whether you wanna do it or not.
“I’ll see how it feels! But jokes aside, the idea of getting in the ring with someone for three or four rounds, whether we do it for charity or whatever, it’s definitely something in my soul that I’d like to do.”
For now, Murs will remain in Gilley’s corner supporting the Commonwealth champion in his fight against Davis, with the British belt also on the line.
The double 154lb clash falls on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr’s rematch with Conor Benn – live on DAZN PPV.
Murs, 41, said: “You see people say it, ‘Ah, I’m really nervous; they’re my friend or my family.’ But the first couple of fights I went to, I didn’t know Sam well enough.
“But maybe the last three or four fights, I’ve never felt anything like it. When you’re sat ringside, when you watch it on TV it’s a completely different perspective, when you’re sat ringside and see the punches thrown, it’s a completely different feeling.

“So I’ll be nervous for him, but I know Sam’s prepared. I know he’s focused, he’s dialled in, and it’s a massive moment for him.
“And, going into it as an underdog as well. So I think Sam’s better when he’s in this mode and this frame of mind. This is his moment.”
