What time is Strictly on tonight? Week 8 dances, runtime, preview, and more

It’s almost time for Strictly Come Dancing to make its annual trip to Blackpool. The Tower Ballroom is ready and waiting for more spectacular routines from this year’s crop of contestants and you rest assured that all eight of them want to make it there! Unfortunately, one elimination awaits as we approach Week 8 of the competition. And it’s closer than ever!

Last week’s episode saw one of the strongest Week 7s in the show’s history, as Vicky Pattison achieved a Leaderboard-topping Tango, Amber Davies stunned us with a jaw-dropper of a Salsa, Lewis Cope performed a sultry Cha Cha and Balvinder Sopal created an unforgettable moment with her beautiful Couples Choice routine. It all resulted in a Dance-Off that saw Harry Aikines-Aryeetey eliminated after the judges opted to save La Voix.

What could go down on this week’s installment? You won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, and here’s exactly when you can expect it.

Strictly Week 8 start time (and how long the episode is)

Strictly Come Dancing Week 8 airs on BBC One on Saturday, November 15, at 6:30 pm GMT. Now, this is a little bit of a later start as the show is beginning to settle into its regular timeslot of closer to 7pm as there are less contestants. With the exception of Blackpool and the finals themselves, the remaining episodes are going to be a little shorter as we head towards the business end of the competition.

That being said, the show will finish at its usual time of 8:00 p.m., meaning that it will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes, making it one of the shortest episodes of this series so far. Like we said, as we head towards the finals, that runtime will get considerably shorter (until it once again increases in the Semi-Finals as the show has its contestants double up on dances).

Strictly Week 8’s songs and dances promise big, epic moments

The songs and dances for this week’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing have been revealed and they promise quite the show. Although most of the selection was unveiled on the Sunday Night Results Show last weekend, the rest were announced on Tuesday via the BBC Strictly Instagram account.

To say we have some epic tunes there would be an understatement. Check them out for yourself below:

  • Alex and Johannes –  Waltz to “Weekend In New England” by Barry Manilow
  • Balvinder and Julian – American Smooth to “My Guy” by Mary Wells
  • Amber and Nikita – Paso Doble to “Dream On” by Aerosmith
  • George and Alexis – Rumba to “Somewhere Only We Know” by Lily Allen
  • Karen and Carlos – American Smooth to “You Don’t Own Me” by SAYGRACE
  • La Voix and Aljaž –  Couple’s Choice to “Don’t Rain On My Parade” by Barbra Streisand
  • Lewis and Katya – Tango to “12 To 12” by Sombr
  • Vicky and Kai – Jive to “Sound Of The Underground” by Girls Aloud

What a line-up right?! Lewis and Katya will be taking on Sombr’s disco-inspired banger “12 To 12” for a fiersome Tango while George and Alexis will Rumba to the emotional “Somewhere Only We Know”. Amber and Nikita will also look to bring the passion with a Paso Doble to “Dream On” by Aerosmith, while Balvinder and Julian will thrill us with an American Smooth to “My Guy”.

There is a lot to be excited about there, and we can’t wait to see what La Voix and Aljaž cook up with their Couple’s Choice, Vicky and Kai produce with their Jive, and Karen and Carlos deliver with their American Smooth. However, we have high hopes for Alex and Johannes’ Waltz to “Weekend In New England” by Barry Manilow, as it has all the makings of a show-stopper. Here’s hoping that it’s the comeback that they are both looking for. It could be a stunner!
