Dust off your yuletide float for West Nipissing’s Parade of Lights

Santa Claus is making an early stop in Sturgeon Falls to take part in West Nipissing’s Parade of Lights.
The annual parade takes place on Friday, December 5, and the municipality is seeking parade participants. Registration is now open for those wishing to include a float in the festivities. If you don’t have a float, but still want to participate, businesses or organizations can register to walk the route or include a holiday-decorated vehicle.
There’s room for all, and this year’s parade route begins on John Street, turns right onto Michaud Street, then left onto Ethel Street before heading down King Street. The final leg follows Queen Street, ending at the West Nipissing Community & Recreation Centre arena.
For those who plan to take part, be sure to meet at the West Nipissing Community & Recreation Centre at 219 O’Hara Street in Sturgeon Falls. Arrive by 5:30 p.m. as the parade starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
All participants must carry a minimum of $2 million in general liability insurance, naming The Corporation of the Municipality of West Nipissing as additional insured. Drivers must have a valid licence as well, and proof of insurance must be submitted to the municipality no later than 10 days prior to the parade.
Also, parade participants are reminded not to dress as Santa, as the real Santa will be the guest of honour once again.
