Last season, when Alabama football took on Oklahoma in Norman, the Sooners eliminated the Crimson Tide from contention for the College Football Playoff.

Fast forward one year, as both teams are set to meet in Tuscaloosa in Week 12 of the college football season under similar circumstances, and the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide can flip the narrative by putting an end to the 10th-ranked Sooners’ CFP hopes with a win.

Alabama and Oklahoma are set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 15 from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Crimson Tide enters Saturday’s game as the winner of their last eight games, including last week’s 20-9 defensive win over LSU that ended with Yhonzae Pierre causing a striped sack and fumble to seal the win. Kalen DeBoer’s squad remained at No. 4 in the second unveiling of the College Football Playoff rankings, which would give them a first-round bye in the 12-team CFP bracket if the season ended today.

Fresh off their bye, the Sooners find themselves sitting on the bubble of the CFP bracket, as Brent Venables’ squad was named the “first team” out in this past Tuesday’s CFP rankings unveiling despite being ranked No. 11 in the CFP top 25 rankings.

Though the quarterback matchup between Ty Simpson and John Mateer has lost a bit of its hype, it still should be an intriguing matchup to watch. Simpson remains in the mix for the Heisman Trophy with nearly 2,500 passing yards and a TD-Interception ratio of 25 to 1, while Mateer’s Heisman candidacy has cooled off since his hand injury.

Oklahoma jumps to 3-0 lead after punt
Oklahoma gets great field position but can only muster a field goal after Sategna’s return. Still, it’s an early victory for the Sooners, whose defense helped jump-start a 3-0 lead for the road team.

Sooners with great starting field position
Following a quick three-and-out by Alabama, Crimson Tide punter Blake Doud punts it 49 yards. It’s returned by Isaiah Sategna III at the Oklahoma 28-yard line, and he returns it 42 yards to the Alabama 30.

Oklahoma wins toss, defers
Oklahoma wins the toss and defers to receive the second-half kickoff. Alabama will start on offense.

Alabama arrives at stadium
Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have arrived at Bryant-Denny Stadium for their top-25 matchup against Oklahoma. Alabama enters the day with a 12-0 record at home under DeBoer over the last two seasons.
