Shivpal accuses BJP of misusing power; says EC remains silent

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party national general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav urged the party workers to intensify booth-level campaigning, saying politics would not work by merely posting photos on social media. Speaking at Etawah’s District Panchayat auditorium on Saturday, he said every worker must go among the people for ground-level hard work to ensure votes were properly registered. He said the party was using the SIR system to fill common people’s forms at booths and that only hard work at the booth level could secure proper registration. He openly attacked the BJP and the administration, alleging that the party had begun village-to-village campaigns months earlier to influence voters. He claimed that youths studying in Delhi had been lured with money, that voters had been brought in packed Vande Bharat trains, and that the Election Commission remained silent despite being aware of these actions. He said, “Baba Saheb wrote the Constitution in an honest era, but BJP has made dishonesty the foundation of governance. Officers are forgetting honesty under pressure from power, and this is the biggest threat to democracy.” He compared the BJP to the British East India Company, alleging that the country’s assets were being sold in the name of contracts and “all contracts are going to one place. “Traders are groaning under heavy GST and there is corruption in every department, Before elections, BJP-RSS collected enormous funds which will be used to influence voters in elections”, he alleged.“Gandhiji had driven out the British. Now a new revolution will rise to free the country from the BJP.” Throughout his speech, Shivpal Singh remained aggressive, reminding workers that Baba Saheb Ambedkar had given people the right to vote and that voters now make the kings. He warned that strength must be shown at booths to protect the people’s votes. “The time for empty talk is over—only hard work will bring victory”, he saidTaking a dig at those who shine in politics on social media, the SP leader said “Politics doesn’t work by getting photos clicked… go village to village, listen to people, only then will the organization become strong.”At the end of the meeting, he emphasised that the upcoming election was not just about changing the govt but about protecting democracy and the Constitution. He said the BJP had already thrown its full weight behind the polls, so SP workers must remain alert at every booth.
