‘Landman’ cast share thoughts on the future of the series “There’s so much room for growth in every single cha

Set in the oilfields in Odessa, Texas, Landman returns for a second season on Paramount. Inspired by Christian Wallace’s podcast Boomtown, the series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a high-stakes oil negotiator in West Texas juggling corporate pressure and personal chaos.
Norris is the VP of operations at M-Tex Oil, navigating the volatile world of drilling rights while trying to keep his personal life from imploding. Season 2 dives deeper into his relationships with his ex-wife Angela (played by Ali Larter), his two kids Cooper (Jacob Lofland) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and the new woman in his life, Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore.
Just weeks before Season 2 airs, it was announced that co-creator and writer Taylor Sheridan will be moving on. His contract with Paramount runs until the end of 2028 but he has signed a new five-year film, TV and streaming deal with NBCUniversal, which begins January 1, 2029.
‘Landman’ cast wish Sheridan well
Sheridan’s departure is a blow to Paramount but cast members insist that as far as they are concerned it will be business as usual for them, and all wished the content creator well with his future venture.
“I think the shows that are at Paramount, stay at Paramount, so I don’t think those are affected,” Thornton told The Hollywood Reporter this week. “His deal is for the future. And who knows what that holds. Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I’m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful, at least I know it’ll be real.”
Those words were echoed by Sam Elliot, who plays Norris’ father T.L. – a new recruit for the second series. “It’s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount. It’s not like he’s taking it there. The Universal thing, as I understand, it’s a whole new deal, so it’s just great for Taylor’s world. I think it’s fantastic.”
