Gable Steveson books next fight for former UFC champion’s promotion

Gable Steveson has a date and location for his second pro MMA bout.
On Friday, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis announced Steveson (1-0) will compete for his promotion Nov. 23 at Isleta Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, N.M. Anthony Pettis FC 21 will stream live on UFC Fight Pass. An opponent for Steveson has not yet been revealed.
Steveson, 25, is an Olympic gold medalist and NCAA champion in wrestling. Following a stint with WWE and a tryout in the NFL, Steveson landed a pro MMA debut for LFA in September. He finished opponent Braden Peterson with punches in 1:38.
A little over one month later, Steveson headlined DBX 4 under a hybrid ruleset and knocked out opponent Billy Swanson in 15 seconds. The domination performance came in front of UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard, who attended the event ringside.
Steveson’s quick but dominant performances in combat sports has attracted a lot of eyeballs, including those of UFC CEO Dana White, who praised him in a recent interview, calling him “a physical freak.”
