England went into their final World Cup qualifiers knowing their spot at next summer’s World Cup was already secured, but complacency did not come into play when they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Serbia on Thursday.

The Three Lions finish their qualifying campaign in Tirana, where they take on Albania and attempt to maintain their perfect record after winning each of their first seven games to nil.

Albania’s fate is already sealed as they landed a playoff spot thanks to Thursday’s 1-0 win over Andorra and although there is nothing to play for, both teams will want to keep up momentum and that may lead to a close encounter at the Air Albania Stadium on Sunday.

Albania vs England preview

The born winner in Thomas Tuchel was on full show on Thursday as, even though his England side had already secured their place at next summer’s World Cup, they put in another professional performance to land a 2-0 win over Serbia.

It wasn’t a vintage display by any means, but it was measured, and that bodes well for next year’s cross-Atlantic venture.

Serbia needed to win to keep their qualification dreams alive and tried to take the game to England. However, their efforts proved fruitless as Tuchel’s men controlled proceedings from start to finish, having 70 per cent of the possession and winning the expected-goals battle 1.20-0.38.

It was a result that proved that dead rubber is not a term in Tuchel’s vocabulary and it is clear that he won’t let standards slip in the build-up to next summer’s World Cup, where England will be bidding to end 60 years of hurt.

There are also added incentives in terms of records. Another victory would mark the first time the Three Lions have recorded 11 competitive wins in a row, while a tenth straight success-and-clean-sheet combo would see them become just the second European side – Spain the other – to achieve that feat.

This hungry group of England players would love to make history and they are expected to do so as Albania’s qualifying campaign is also done, with second place guaranteed after Thursday’s 1-0 win over Andorra.

The Eagles will not take their foot off the gas but a positive result may elude them given the talent at Tuchel’s disposal. However, a run of four clean sheets in five games suggests they should keep the scoring low, just as they did when holding their own in March’s 2-0 defeat at Wembley.

Back Bellingham to prove his worth

Both managers are likely to rotate as England and Albania are guaranteed to finish first and second regardless of the result in this Tirana tussle, although one boss has much tastier options at his disposal.

Former Arsenal defender Sylvinho can bring in some talented players, including Rangers’ Nedim Bajrami, but it’s not quite Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton.

The first of that England trio will be eager to impress given Tuchel’s affinity for Morgan Rogers and he should do just that.

Bellingham has scored three goals and provided one assist in his last five Real Madrid appearances, while he also set up a strike in March’s reverse fixture with Albania, making an odds-against price for the world-class midfielder to impact proceedings too big to ignore.

Exciting Eze to make most of chance

Bellingham is not the only player looking to prove his worth to the German tactician and Eze will feel he can’t do much more to impress Tuchel.

The Arsenal star has found the net after coming off the bench in England’s last two games and, having averaged a shot every 21 minutes throughout qualifying, he looks a huge price to make the most of a rare start by scoring the first goal in Tirana.

Albania vs England Bet Builder

England-England double result

The Three Lions have been leading at half-time in each of their last five games, scoring ten first-half goals across those matches, and should make another fast start.

Under 3.5 goals

Albania may struggle to earn any points but just one of their last 16 games has gone over 3.5 goals and a low-scoring encounter is expected.

Rey Manaj to commit two or more fouls

The Eagles’ forwards are likely to be starved of the ball and Manaj, who has committed at least two fouls in three of his last five international appearances, could cut a frustrated figure.
