Navan’s high-class Troytown Chase card goes ahead after passing inspection

Navan’s Troytown Chase (2.32) card on Sunday will take place as planned after the track passed its morning inspection.
The course was forced to reschedule the first day of its Navan Racing Festival on Saturday after heavy rainfall from Storm Claudia left it waterlogged, but it has recovered sufficiently in time for today’s meeting to take place.
A statement from the IHRB said: “Following an inspection this morning, Navan is fit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today goes ahead.”
The eight-race card is headed by the flagship Troytown Handicap Chase, with a field of 20 set to go to post. Owners Gigginstown House Stud have four runners, including the favourite Quai De Bourbon for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend.
Mullins also unleashes top-class novice hurdler Final Demand for the first time over fences in the 2m4½f beginners’ chase (3.07). The two-time Grade 1 winner is already the ante-post favourite for the 2026 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
The final day of Cheltenham’s November meeting is set to go ahead without any issues. The official going has changed overnight to soft (from soft, heavy in places) for the six-race card which features the Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle (3.30).
Leading contender Celtic Dino is a non-runner due to the going, meaning Gibbs Island carries top weight of 11st 10lb in a field of 19.
