Television favourite Jane McDonald was moved to tears during a poignant moment on her travel show, Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan, after discovering what destiny had in store for her.
Whilst recording for the Channel 5 programme, the beloved entertainer was handed an O-mikuji, a customary fortune-telling paper slip that offers insight into one’s future.
“Is there anything bad in there?” Jane nervously asked the tour guide.
Prior to Jane revealing her fortune, the guide warned her about the chance of an unfavourable prediction but reassured the presenter that any bad luck could be simply undone.
Upon selecting her slip to uncover her daily forecast, Jane emotionally shared with audiences: “Wow. I feel as if I was strongly on the spring fields with my family, so comfortable,” reports the Mirror.

“Wow, that is quite emotional, actually, isn’t it?” Jane remarked as she struggled to contain her emotions.
“You could realise almost everything as if you could drive easily on a downhill road,” she went on.
“Work hard and believe, and you will be successful just like grass grows thanks to the rain heaven gives.
“This is just so, so beautiful,” she observed before enquiring: “So this is good luck?”
“This is good luck,” the tour guide affirmed as Jane replied with a relieved breath: “Thank goodness for that, I was a bit worried about that.”
Jane was overcome with emotional
In a warm embrace, Jane conveyed her sincere appreciation to the guide for deepening her knowledge of Japanese customs. Elsewhere in the programme, Jane tried her hand at origami – the Japanese art of paper folding – and even gave sumo wrestling a go.
She also had the opportunity to showcase her vocal talents, albeit in a local karaoke bar.
Jane clearly relished the experience as she belted out tunes alongside other participants for the evening, with many opting to perform I Will Survive.
A repeat of Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan airs on Sunday at 10am on Channel 5.
