Public’s Assistance Requested in Kidnapping Investigation

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and Missing Persons Unit is conducting an investigation into the abduction of a Ten-month-old Nalaya Crew. The call for service came in at 7:01 P.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Ms. Crew was abducted by a distant family member Michelle Hemphill,19, B/F and her boyfriend Timothy Lee Smith Jr., 23. The family believes the child to be in danger with Ms. Hemphill who is currently homeless and has no means to provide for the child. Ms. Hemphill was last seen getting into a blue minivan believed to be driven by Mr. Smith around the 6600 block of Monroe Rd.
Anyone with information or who sees them is asked to call 911 immediately.
An Amber alert has been issued.
