No. 1 UConn to Host Ohio State in Hartford

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women’s basketball team (3-0) hosts Ohio State (2-0) in PeoplesBank Arena on Sunday at noon. The game will air on peacock and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
Just before tipoff, the Huskies will unveil their 2025 National Championship banner in PeoplesBank Arena.
UConn beat Loyola Chicago, 85-31, on Wednesday in Gampel Pavilion. Sophomore Sarah Strong and junior KK Arnold led the Huskies with 11 points each. UConn had 36 bench points vs. the Ramblers. The Huskies had 45 points off 36 Loyola turnovers. It was the most turnovers UConn had forced since forcing 37 vs. Pitt on Jan. 15, 2000.
UConn is 6-1 all-time vs. Ohio State. The teams’ last meeting was in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, which the Buckeyes won, 73-61. It broke UConn’s streak of 16 straight Elite Eight appearances and 13 straight Final Four appearances.
Ohio State beat Bellarmine, 90-33, on Thursday. This season, Jaloni Cambridge leads the Buckeyes with 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Ohio State was picked to finish fifth in the Coaches Big Ten Preseason Rankings. Head coach Kevin McGuff is in his 13th season at Ohio State.
UConn is ranked No. 1 in the most recent Associated Press poll. The Huskies hold a 486-20 (.960) record when ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll.
