CBS Sports shades New York Giants’ Jaxson Dart in 2025 NFL draft regrade

In the midst of yet another losing season for the New York Giants, perhaps the biggest silver lining is the 2025 draft class, highlighted by Jaxson Dart, who is believed to be the quarterback of the future.
Dart has impressed since taking over as the starter in Week 4, and fans are excited to see what 2026 brings with Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers back on the field alongside Dart.
However, not everyone has been impressed with Dart thus far. CBS Sports regraded the first-round picks from the 2025 draft this week, and the grades given to the Giants’ first-round selections were a bit surprising.
Third overall pick Abdul Carter received a ‘B’ in this exercise.
For most of the season, Carter has been impressive on the field, even though he has not yet made much of an impact on the stat sheet. Carter has been generating pressure at a high rate, and it seems only a matter of time before the sacks arrive and his impact on the stat sheet comes to fruition.
The more shocking grade went to Jaxson Dart. The 25th overall pick received a ‘C+’ despite being impressive in his seven starts and instilling belief that the Giants have their quarterback of the future.
Dart has been making plays with both his arm and his legs. He lost his most talented weapon, Malik Nabers, to injury in his first start back in Week 4. He also lost fellow rookie Cam Skattebo a few weeks ago. Despite the offense being decimated by injuries, Dart was able to lead the Giants to victories against two of the better teams on their schedule: the Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
At 2-8, with the season all but over, the Giants will continue to focus on the development of their rookie class ahead of the 2026 season and beyond — particularly their two first-round picks. While the grade given to Dart is a bit puzzling, most observers have been impressed with the rookie quarterback and believe in the Ole Miss product as the long-term solution at quarterback for Big Blue.
