Hawks at Suns picks and predictions
Prediction
Hawks 122, Suns 120
LEAN HAWKS (-120).
The Hawks have more talent than Phoenix, especially with the Suns missing their second-best player (Green) and maybe their best 2-way guy (Allen). On the other side, Atlanta has a lot of long defensive wings to throw at Booker and an offense that will be hard to stop, as it is predicated on ball movement and getting the defense in rotation.
This is a lean because the Suns have won 5 straight.
PASS.
The spread doesn’t make sense here unless you expect the Suns to lose by exactly 1 point. The Hawks will cover here as -1.5 (-110) favorites, but I am not a fan of doubling down on the spread and ML for a team for the same game, so pass and bet on the ML and/or total instead.
BET OVER 229.5 (-110).
Atlanta is top 5 in both defensive rating and turnovers forced per game, but this won’t be a game where the Hawks just stifle Phoenix entirely; it will instead be one where Atlanta uses its defense to create offense. The Suns are a top-10 offense and are led by one of the league’s premier scorers, so look for that offense to translate enough for the Over to cash here.
