Carter Hart is taking his first step to an NHL return

The Vegas Golden Knights announced they’ve assigned goalie Carter Hart to their AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights on a conditioning loan.

Hart will have the next few weeks to ramp up and potentially get some game reps before he’s recalled to the NHL. While he is eligible to return from suspension on Dec. 1, the Golden Knights may opt to keep him in the AHL past that date if they feel he needs more work.

Hart last appeared in the NHL during the 2023-2024 season, where he went 12-9-3 across 26 games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Once he returns, he’ll join a struggling goalie room that includes Adin Hill, Akira Schmidt and Carl Lindbom. But, if Hart performs anything like he did before his absence, he could emerge as the starter.

So, his conditioning and possible playing time in the AHL will be something to monitor.
