Is DeVonta Smith playing tonight? Why Eagles WR is off to quiet start in Week 11

In what is one of the more surprising things about the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 season, wide receiver DeVonta Smith is the team’s leading receiver.
Entering Week 11, Smith has 657 receiving yards, which is nearly 250 yards more than the team’s supposed No. 1 wide receiver A.J. Brown.
However, Smith is off to a slow start in the Week 11 game against the Detroit Lions. Here’s a closer look at what’s going on.
Is DeVonta Smith playing tonight?
UPDATE: FINALLY! Smith is on the stat sheet with his first catch early in the fourth quarter. Better late then never.
UPDATE: As we go into the fourth quarter, it’s status quo for Smith. It has been a miserable night overall for the Eagles’ offense and Smith is definitely feeling that.
UPDATE: We are through an entire half of football on Monday night and Smith still doesn’t have a catch on four targets.
It’s hardly his fault, though, as Hurts has struggled mightily and only completed 9-of-18 passes over the first two quarters. Six of those completions have gone to A.J. Brown.
END OF UPDATE
UPDATE: With about six minutes left in the second quarter, Smith has been targeted four times but has yet to reel in a catch.
Yes, Smith is active and on the field for the Eagles, and he even received a target on the team’s first drive, he just couldn’t reel it in.
The Eagles didn’t have a great first drive offensively, as quarterback Jalen Hurts completed just one of four passes and the drive lasted just six plays.
Based on what we’ve seen this season, Smith getting going is a matter of when, not if. We’ll see what happens on drive No. 2.
