A FAMILY-run funeral directors in Christchurch has welcomed tighter regulation in the funeral sector to ensure relatives are treated fairly.

Miller Bros. & F.P. Butler Ltd., Funeral Directors is an independent family business, that has been established in Christchurch since 1910.

Managing director, Stuart Major couldn’t be more-proud of his family-business understands the importance of being a member of regulatory organisations, such as NAFD and SAIF.

He said: “Being a member of the NAFD and SAIF offers reassurance to families looking to appoint a funeral director; and by adhering to their codes of practice families can be reassured that my business and my team operate under strict guidelines, and with compassion and professionalism at all times.

“Each time we have been inspected by the standards and quality management teams from the NAFD and SAIF, we are commended for exceeding their expectations and maintaining a high-quality service, with dignity and professionalism throughout.”

Membership of the NAFD and SAIF is currently voluntary, and reportedly there are currently no government enforced rules in place to ensure non-member funeral homes are acting in the best interests of the families they serve, and in the care of their loved-ones.
