A devastating inferno has ravaged a commercial premises in the Ballytrasna region of Little Island. Witnesses reported hearing ‘explosions’ from afar as fire crews battled the blaze late into the night. The site, still active with emergency responders this morning, was engulfed in a spectacular display of bright orange flames and massive smoke plumes that could be seen across Cork Harbour.
Alarming footage shot from across the water shows ferocious flames erupting from the warehouse’s rooftop as billowing smoke pierced the night sky, stretching kilometres into the distance.
Located in an industrial hub of Little Island, multiple premises were at risk. A comprehensive investigation will follow, aiming to pinpoint the fire’s origin and gauge the severe damage it has undoubtedly inflicted, decimating the property and damaging vehicles parked nearby.

Cork City and County Fire Brigades fought tirelessly, working well past midnight to contain the destructive flames. One witness, who heard the blasts from Passage West over 2 kilometres away across the harbour, described: “We are in Passage West and can hear the explosion and see the flames and smoke over here.”
Residents from nearby Mahon and Rochestown also reported hearing the loud explosive noises echoing across the night air, reports Cork Beo.
