There will always be debate over who the best Spider-Man is and to some degree, that debate is usually settled by which films you grew up with which is why there was so much enthusiasm and love for the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and their union with Tom Holland in Spider-Man No Way Home. It sounds like there’s more coming from Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man as he’s set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday which is set to release in December 2026.
Insider Daniel Richtman who is very reliable on all things Marvel revealed on his Patreon that Tobey Maguire will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. While it was expected that Secret Wars would be the place to see a return for all the multiversal characters of the past, it seems that Doomsday is more connected than expected. Previously, during the chairs reveal, cast members of the original X-Men films were revealed to be a part of Doomsday. It sounds like there are more past heroes to come.
It’s unclear what role Tobey will have in this film, it could be a cameo for all we know but it also could be a massive role. Tobey’s Spider-Man is arguably the most popular character from the movies outside of the MCU so it would stand to reason that the character would get a lot of time to shine when he appears in these crossover films. It’s unclear if Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield will also appear in the film. Tom obviously has Spider-Man: Brand New Day still to come, which is currently filming.

Tobey Maguire has been rumored to be among the cast for some time now but this is the first confirmation of it from a reliable source. It’s also been revealed by Daniel that a teaser for the film is set to release with Avatar: Fire and Ash. Tobey’s potential appearance in said teaser could be a massive boost to the film, which needs to be a success.
It also brings into question what reveals and characters Avengers: Secret Wars will put out of the hat as that is meant to be an even bigger film—akin to Infinity War and Endgame where the latter had everyone you could think of. Could Marvel be saving a potential re-union of all the Spider-Men for that film?
There are a lot of different permutations Tobey could have in Avengers: Doomsday. These crossover films always group up a lot of characters, which could make for a lot of different characters interacting with Tobey’s Spider-Man like the X-Men, or the Fantastic Four in potential fight sequences with Doctor Doom. There’s also the chance that Tobey has more of a solo storyline that comes together with the other storylines down the line, akin to Thor in Infinity War.
Regardless, Tobey’s appearance will be an exciting sight to see for fans of the Raimi films or even just general Spider-Man fans. It opens up a lot of opportunities for the film.
