Kelsea Ballerini’s new album is called ‘Mount Pleasant’ and it’s likely inspired by her time here
Kelsea Ballerini’s new EP is named “Mount Pleasant,” and it’s almost certainly in reference to the local town where she spent a good amount of her time while dating “Outer Banks” star Chase Stokes.
The two reportedly started dating in 2023, making it official at the CMT Music Awards red carpet that April. They then split in September of this year but have since been seen together and are believed to be working things out, according to Us Weekly, Elle, Taste of County, InStyle and other publications.
Ballerini’s EP, released on Nov. 14, references some of the struggles in her relationship with Stokes.
In her new song “587,” she references Mount Pleasant specifically.
“587, 587 / Baby, that’s the distance, path of least resistance / 587, here to Mount Pleasant / Got me reminiscing / It used to be a quick flight / By midnight we were kissing in the harbor / Now you’ve never felt farther,” Ballerini sings.

When Stokes was filming the hit Netflix show in Charleston from 2023 into this year, Ballerini would visit. “The Voice” coach has been spotted around town, including at The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan’s Island, Record Stop in downtown Charleston and the Old Village and True Blues House of Wings in Mount Pleasant.
“One thing you should always know about me is I’m going to find a karaoke bar, and Blues Bar is that go-to spot for me in Charleston,” Ballerini is quoted saying via Apple Maps’ curated Hyperlocal guide. “It’s kind of a hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall, and that’s everything you need to know. I’ll see you there!”
She also performed at the North Charleston Coliseum in April of this year. The Post and Courier interviewed her before the show.
“It’s my second home at this point,” Ballerini said of Charleston at that time. “It’s really cool to be able to play shows in cities that have my heart tied to them, whether that be Nashville or Charleston. I have friends there, obviously, because I live there part-time, and I get to go home after the show. It’ll be extra special to get to do that.”
Stokes and Ballerini have been spotted holding hands in Scotland and Croatia over the last few weeks. Part of the last season of “Outer Banks” is reportedly being filmed in Croatia, bringing Stokes there for filming. A source told Us Weekly that the two fell back into their romance “very naturally.”
Previously, Stokes dated “Outer Banks” co-star and his character’s love interest, Madelyn Cline. The two ended things in November 2021.
