Isla Fisher Cried in 1st Solo Home After Sacha Baron Cohen Divorce

Isla Fisher had an emotional reaction while moving into her first place after her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen — but she loved the furniture.
“It’s all very warm and casual, but glamorous,” Fisher, 49, told Elle Decoration UK on Wednesday, November 12, of the aesthetic of her London home. “It’s theatrical, which is a bit like me as a person I suppose.”
While the actress was happy to see how her new space was coming together, she confessed, “When it all arrived, I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own.”
Fisher noted that following both the death of her father and her divorce from Cohen, 54, in 2023, rebuilding her life amid a move to London wasn’t easy.
Isla Fisher is learning how to navigate a new normal since separating from her estranged husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. “It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process,” Fisher, 49, told The Times of London of the split in a profile published on Saturday, February […]
“Trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally, has been challenging, but deeply rewarding,” the Wedding Crashers star explained.
Fisher shared that she is “enjoying this new version of my life,” calling her London pad her sanctuary.
“I don’t need to party in my house anymore,” she revealed. “I love to get in the bath. I’ll light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”
Fisher has had a rocky few years, announcing in April 2024 that she and Cohen had separated one year prior.
Isla Fisher is feeling grateful for her support system following her split from Sacha Baron Cohen. “That you for all your kindness and support,” Fisher, 48, wrote alongside a picture of her smiling via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, May 14. Fisher sat outside in front of a table and smiled for the camera. She […]
“After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” the pair’s joint Instagram statement read at the time. “In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”
The couple were married 13 years, tying the knot in 2010 before parting ways in 2023. They share three children, whom they keep out of the spotlight.
“We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children,” Fisher and Cohen added in April 2024. “We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

In June, Fisher revealed that she and the Borat star had finalized their divorce.
“Our divorce has now been finalized. We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to coparenting our wonderful children,” the duo said in a joint statement at the time. “We ask for the media to continue to respect our children’s privacy.”
The following month, Fisher opened up about the “tough couple of years” she’d been through, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “I’m making it through.”
The Now You See Me: Now You Don’t star revealed she was “really excited for the next chapter,” which included “refocusing” on her career.

The […]
“Previously I was very much focused on my kids, which I still am, obviously, because [they’re] my true love,” Fisher told the magazine. “But I’m enjoying tackling work again.”
The actress explained that “one of the benefits of a challenging situation” is having “the luxury of asking myself, ‘What would I like to do professionally and privately?’”
In the wake of her divorce, Fisher said she was trying to “remind” herself of her “new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible.”
Part of her new chapter included moving full time to London after growing up in Australia and living in Los Angeles for a big part of her career.
Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen‘s chance meeting at a 2002 event in Australia led to a nearly 14-year-long marriage. “I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did. It’s taken her about 20 years to know,” Cohen told The New York Times in October 2020 of meeting Fisher. Two years after sparking romance rumors, […]
“It’s such a fabulous city,” Fisher told Elle Decoration UK of England’s capital. “It’s a place where you can tell stories and I guess I’m writing my own one now.”

Fisher eventually found her dream house in London, one with an enormous skylight to make her feel like she was in L.A. or sunny Australia. “To be in a space like this is so calming for me,” she shared.
The actress added that her new pad also features a “magical” garden with a weeping willow, which she said “felt like kismet” because she’s always been “obsessed” with them since she was a kid.
“With the Australian upbringing I was lucky enough to have, I’ve always been barefoot in the garden or on the beach, so this is as close as I can get to feeling like I’m home,” she concluded.
