Madison Police use drone to find suspect on city’s south side

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison Police Department officers used a drone to help find a suspect accused of pulling on car doors in a southside neighborhood.
A caller told MPD that someone was walking up driveways and pulling on car door handles around 12:20 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Axel Avenue. The person who called police also gave them a description of the suspect.
Officers reported finding someone who matched the suspect description around 1 a.m. in the 4400 block of Britta Parkway, about a quarter of a mile away from the Axel Avenue address.
MPD said officers tried to talk to the suspect, who allegedly refused to identify himself and kept reaching into his pockets. The suspect took off from officers and ran back to Axel Avenue, police said.
An officer used a drone to find the suspect, Towain Young, who was hiding in a backyard on the 4300 block of Devolis Parkway.
MPD said officers found a loaded gun, with a 30-round extended magazine, where Young was hiding.
Young, 18, also had ammunition on him, police noted.
Young faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
Police booked him into the Dane County Jail, noting he was on probation at the time of the arrest. He was also booked on a probation hold.
