Aussie serial pest who rushed Grande jailed

The Australian “serial pest” who jumped the barricade at a Wicked: For Good premiere and accosted Ariana Grande has been jailed for nine days.

Johnson Wen, 26, who goes by Pyjama Man on Instagram, filmed himself undertaking the stunt at the event, which was attended by all of the film’s stars including Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh.

The footage was later shared on social media, and showed Grande appearing to be visibly shaken as she is confronted by Wen. Erivo was seen quickly jumping into action, shielding her co-star and shouting at the wannabe influencer.

And Erivo alluded to the scary incident during a Screen Actors Guild screening over the weekend, telling the audience her co-star had gone “through some s**t” recently.

“I mean, f**k, even this last week,” Erivo said. “Let’s be honest, for f**k’s sakes. We’ve had to really deal with some stuff.”

Police in Singapore arrested Wen the day after the incident, charging him with public nuisance.

Wen was handed the nine-day sentence by Singapore District Judge Christopher Goh, who described the act as “pre-meditated”.

“You seem to be attention seeking, thinking only of yourself and not the safety of others when committing these acts,” he said, adding that it was “wrong” for Wen to think there would be no consequences.

“You should be mindful that there are always consequences for one’s actions.”

Earlier, Wen – appearing via videolink – entered a guilty plea.

He told the judge: “I won’t do it again, Your Honour. I am going to stop getting into trouble.”

Wen was arrested after the incident and has already served four days behind bars, meaning he has five left.

Shortly after the incident, Wen had gloated about his antics on social media.

“I’m free after being arrested,” he bragged, in a video filmed inside a shopping mall in Singapore.

He then shared the clip of himself rushing towards Grande and then being tackled by security guards, with the caption: “Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”

The incident would likely have had even more impact on Grande, given that she has previously spoken about her struggles with PTSD following the deadly bombing attack on her concert in Manchester in 2017.

Wen has built up an online following with his celebrity-accosting stunts, which has seen him storm the stage at both Katy Perry and The Weeknd’s Aussie shows in the past.

He describes himself as a “Troll Most Hated” in the bio on Instagram account.
