Emmerdale’s Ray ‘working for police’ as true identity exposed after Celia clue

Emmerdale viewers have speculated it could be Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) that comes to April Windsor’s (Amelia Flanagan) rescue, predicting he might already be working undercover for the police. Ray and his mother Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) are quickly cementing themselves as one of the soap’s most sinister duos, exploiting the vulnerable and forcing April and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) into selling drugs.
The duo even went so far as to pressure April into having sex with clients for money. During Monday’s (November 17) episode of the ITV soap, April ended up getting arrested in Newcastle after the police found her with drugs in her possession. She called her grandad Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) to be her appropriate adult and claimed the police got things wrong when they arrested her. Back in the village, April assured Ray and Celia that she said nothing during the interview.
Celia appeared calm when speaking to April, promising to handle everything and pleading with her not to speak to anyone else about the situation.
But it was after April walked away that Celia’s true feelings came to the surface.
“She is becoming a liability,” the villain declared.
Ray attempted to defend April, explaining that she is simply “finding her feet”.
Celia hit back: “If this comes back on us, that little tramp will wish she’d never been born.”
Ray seemed shocked by his mother’s choice of words, letting out a sigh before walking away.
The moment has led fans to speculate that Ray could somehow redeem himself, with some speculating he could become an informant for the police and ultimately save April.
Taking to X, one wrote: “Judging by that look I wonder if Ray will end up being the one to save April in the end?”
Another agreed: “That look and sigh from Ray suggest he’s had enough of Celia sheer nastiness towards April.”
Discussing where the storyline could go, a third shared: “It’d be interesting to see him start to redeem himself, only for him to get brought down by the police along with Celia and see him punished for the crimes. I have a strong feeling we’re gonna see some police informant/undercover police here at some point.”
A fourth speculated: “Unless he becomes an informer, if and when they’re caught, he’ll have to serve time, regardless of his background. Maybe not as long.”
Another responded: “Crazy theory, but what if he already is an informer?….”
Others have speculated that Ray will end up dying in order to save April, with one concluding: “It gives him a bit of redemption but he doesn’t get to live his life after all the nasty stuff he’s done.”
