I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here is back on our screens and we are so already so invested. With dramatic entrances, new challenges and of course a whole host of new campmates. And one campmate is already getting everyone talking – Ruby Wax.

The actress, presenter and mental health campaigner was voted for the first Bushtucker Trial of the season, alongside Angry Ginge, which will take place in tonight’s episode. However, during the first episode, Wax ruffled feathers amongst fans after she joked about Angry Ginge standing in her light.

And now she’ll face the first Bush Tucker Trial. But before we get into all manner of creepy crawlies, here’s everything you need to know about Ruby Wax, including her infamous ‘car crash’ interview with Madonna.

Who is Ruby Wax?

Ruby Wax is an actor, TV presenter and mental health campaigner. Ruby began her career when she moved to the UK and began her acting work in plays including working with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

She then transitioned into movies, and TV shows including one of the roles she’s best known for the sitcom Girls on Top. She’s also had appearances in the movies Chariots of Fire, The Borrowers and Tara Road.

Ruby then transitioned into more presenting work and ended up hosting her own interview series called Ruby Wax Meets… where she interviewed a number of very famous figures including Pamela Anderson, Donald Trump, The Spice Girls, O.J. Simpson and Madonna.

She’s also become a mental health expert and opened up about her own experiences with bipolar disorder and depression. She made a BBC documentary series about the subject in 2010 and has also written self books about her own experiences.

What happened in Ruby Wax’s interview with Madonna?

One of the biggest moments in Ruby’s career has been her interview series, which included an interview with Madonna.

The interview took place in 1994 in order to promote Madonna’s new album Bedtime Stories and Ruby has since looked back at the interview and called it a “car crash”.

During a recent interview with Heat magazine, Ruby claimed Madonna was “defensive” throughout the interview and said she gave “snide” answers to the questions Ruby asked.

“She kept saying which camera she wanted. I had to make sure she wasn’t insulted, because she was ready for an insult or a hardball question to be thrown. She was totally defensive, and that’s not a way to do an interview,” she said.

Ruby went onto add ” I tried to make her laugh and then I tried to take her seriously, except I was doing an entertainment show, so I had to keep it funny. She was answering me in a kind-of snide way and not being honest.

“I can only be honest, so it was a car crash. I think, in the end, she thought I was funny in a goofy kind of way. But she couldn’t get serious

What happened in Ruby Wax’s interview with Donald Trump?

Madonna wasn’t Ruby’s only awkward interview. During her interview series she also had time with now President Donald Trump.

Ahead of her time in the jungle, Ruby opened up about the interview that happened with Donald back in the late 90s. She claimed he had said he wanted to become President of the United States and Ruby said she laughed and at this claimed Trump then kicked her off his private plane.

She said: “About 25 years ago, I had a show, so I went on Donald Trump’s plane. He said he wanted to be president of the United States, and I started laughing… and he didn’t think it was funny, so he threw me off his plane. I’ll never forget that!”

Who is Ruby Wax married to?

Ruby Wax is married to Ed Bye, a TV and movie director and producer. The couple began dating in 1987 and got married a year later. The pair have three children together.

Prior to her marriage to Ed, Ruby was first married to Andrew Porter from 1976 to 1980, and then her second husband Trevor Walton between 1981 and 1986.
