Season series: Knicks lead 1-0

The Knicks kept rolling Friday, picking up their sixth win in 7 games with a 140-132 victory over the Heat in the first leg of a home-and-home. New York covered as a 6.5-point favorite as the Over 240.5 sailed past. C Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 39 points, including 6-of-14 from 3, while G Josh Hart delivered a triple-double off the bench with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.

The Heat dropped their second straight game Friday despite strong scoring across the board, with all 5 starters finishing in double figures. G Norman Powell had 38 points, knocking down 8 of 15 from beyond the arc. Knicks at Heat nickname picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 130, Knicks 126

BET HEAT (-120).

Friday’s game showed us these teams can go shot for shot, but going back to South Florida gives the Heat a real boost. And honestly, with the way Powell is playing right now, it’s hard for me to pick against them. He’s averaging 38 a night over his last 10 games and just lit up the Knicks for 38 on Friday. With Adebayo still out, Powell has taken over as the go-to scorer, and he hasn’t blinked once.

The Knicks, on the other hand, are walking into this one pretty short-handed. No Brunson at the point, no Anunoby on the wing — that’s a lot of creation and shot-making missing. Guards Josh Hart, Landry Shamet, and Jordan Clarkson will have to carry a bigger load just to keep New York’s offense on track. They’re capable, but relying on all of them to punch above their usual roles on the road isn’t ideal.

Between Miami’s home crowd, Powell’s insane scoring run, and the Knicks’ injury issues, I think the Heat have the slight edge. I’m taking Miami to win the rematch on their floor.

PASS.

You can take this small line for the better odds, but I’m playing it safe with the moneyline.

BET OVER 241.5 (-110).

I’m all over the Over in this Knicks–Heat rematch. These 2 just played a shootout on Friday, and 7 of their last 10 meetings have flown past the number. The Knicks have hit the Over in 8 of their last 10, the Heat in 7 of their last 10, and both rank top-4 in scoring. With middle-tier defenses on both sides, I’m expecting another fireworks show.
