Booming battery demand to send ASX lithium stocks soaring

Investment banks are having to rapidly recast their lithium forecasts to account for an imminent surge in battery storage demand that is turbocharging a rally in prices and sending PLS and Mineral Resources soaring on the ASX.

Prices for spodumene, the type of lithium that is mined in Australia, have nearly doubled over the past five months and rallied a further 6.2 per cent on Monday to $US1011 a tonne, the highest level since June 2024, according to data from S&P Global Platts.
