Charlotte Hornets Trading Miles Bridges To The Detroit Pistons

Heading into the year, it seemed like there was a very strong chance that the Charlotte Hornets would be willing to trade away a number of players in hopes of starting a rebuild. With the Detroit Pistons getting out to a hot start, these two could be good trade partners.
As for the Pistons, they’re off to a phenomenal 10-2 start. Everything is clicking, and Cade Cunningham looks like one of the best players in the NBA right now.
Not only that, but Jalen Duren has been phenomenal this year as well. With everything starting to come together for Detroit, now is the time to start pushing their chips in.
As for the Hornets, they need to consider blowing everything up. Right now, the Hornets are 4-8, but they’ve failed to win more than 30 games since the 2021-22 season.
This is a PREDICTION, not a REPORT.

Miles Bridges Trade Proposal to the Detroit Pistons
One fair counterargument to trading away Miles Bridges is that he’s 27 years old. While that’s not extremely old, the Hornets need to get significantly younger.
By the time the Hornets are going to be competitive, Bridges will likely be on the decline. It makes a lot more sense to get multiple assets for him back in return.
When taking money into account, here’s what the most likely deal around Bridges should look like.
On one side, the Pistons would give up Duncan Robinson, Ronald Holland, and a 2026 2nd round pick. For the Hornets, all they would need to do is move Bridges.
Holland would likely be moved again before the deadline, but Holland is the main piece. The 5th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft still holds a good amount of value.
Of course, the Pistons would love to keep Holland around, but going from Robinson to Bridges is an upgrade worth making right now.
Other Miles Bridges Landing Spots
Here’s another trade idea for Bridges created by u/225 on Fanspo. This user has the Hornets making a deal with the Sacramento Kings.
In the deal, the Kings give up Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan. On the flip side, the Hornets trade away Bridges and two 2nd round picks.
While the value of this deal doesn’t seem too far off, the team fit doesn’t make too much sense. Both the Kings and the Hornets are teams that need to rebuild.
The Kings could absolutely get a solid return for those two veterans, and trading them both away seems like the right idea. It’s just that, based on what we’ve brought up above, the Hornets also should look to get younger, and they would be doing the opposite in this proposed deal.
Miles Bridges Stats
Bridges took a really big leap in terms of his scoring ability in the 2021-22 season when he had his first 20 PPG year. Since then, he’s never dipped below that mark.
Last year, Bridges had 20.3 PPG, 7.5 REB, and 3.9 AST. So far through 12 games this season, Bridges has 22.7 PPG, 7.2 REB, and 4.0 AST.
Bridges isn’t a superstar, but he should still be able to fetch the Pistons a strong return. All things considered, the Charlotte Hornets trading Miles Bridges to the Detroit Pistons would make a ton of sense.
