Luca Guadagnino’s ‘After The Hunt’ Sets Prime Video Release Date This Month

Amazon MGM Studios’ psychological drama After the Hunt from Oscar nominated filmmaker Luca Guadagnino hits Prime Video on Nov. 20, repping a 41 theatrical day window to streaming.
The R-rated movie, which made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, follows a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light. Nora Garrett wrote the movie.
The production reportedly cost between $70M-$80 million, however, didn’t fare well at the box office grossing only $3.2M stateside with a current running offshore cume under $6M. After the Hunt opened on Oct. 10 limited before expanding wide.
Producers are Brian Grazer, Guadagnino, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum. EPs are Karen Lunder, Justin Wilkes, Alice Dawson and Garrett. The movie also stars Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny.
It was recently announced that After the Hunt‘s Guadagnino and star Julia Roberts are being tapped to receive the 2025 Gotham Awards Visionary Tribute at the 35th annual Gotham Film Awards on Dec. 1.
The Visionary Tribute recognizes “groundbreaking collaborations that push the boundaries of storytelling in film,” organizer the Gotham Film & Media Institute said. Last year, James Mangold and Timothée Chalamet received the honor for A Complete Unknown.
Guadagnino has another production he’s prepping with Amazon MGM Studios, the AI feature Artificial, which stars his Bones and All star Mary Rylance, as well as Garfield, Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Billie Lourd, Jason Schwartzman, Cooper Koch, Cooper Hoffman and Ike Barinholtz. Official plot details are being kept under wraps, although the film is being billed as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence.
