MAFS UK’s Keye and Davide split: Explaining ‘uncomfortable’ dating app revelation as they confirm break up

Married at First Sight UK’s Keye and Davide have confirmed their split following their time on their show, and honestly we are not OK.

Last week viewers saw the couple, who were one of the strongest pairings throughout this series of MAFS UK, say yes to continuing their relationship outside the experiment. They were also still together during the reunion episodes which aired later last week, but were filmed months ago. However, since filming ended the pair have now confirmed they are no longer together, after Keye went on dating app Grindr.

In an emotional statement shared on his Instagram over the weekend, Keye confirmed the pair had split after he had made a profile on Grindr during a low point. He clarified that he had not intended to cheat on Davide.

“This is incredibly difficult to share, but I have always believed in being honest, even when it is uncomfortable.

“In the early hours of a Sunday morning, while Davide was on a flight, I downloaded Grindr. I want to be clear that I was not looking to cheat, hook up, or find someone else. I was in a dark and fragile place and reached for something unhealthy because I did not know how else to cope. What I was seeking had nothing to do with intimacy. It was an attempt to escape emotions I could not sit with, and I reached for substances when what I really needed was support,” he wrote.

Keye added: “None of this excuses my actions. I understand how it looked and I understand why it hurt. Even without sexual intentions, I crossed a line and broke trust. I hate that Davide believed I was looking for someone else, because that was never the truth. But I fully accept the impact.”

So how did Davide find out about Keye’s profile? Well, Keye said Davide had found his profile through his own.

“When Davide found my profile through his, it cost me my marriage. That is something I carry with me every day,” Keye explained.

As for why Davide had a Grindr profile, in his own statement about the relationship ending Davide revealed he had created an account as he had a suspicion Keye was on the app.

Writing in a post on his own Instagram Davide said: “The night in question (this happened 5 months ago), I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. Out of my own insecurity I created a profile on Grindr to check whether Keye was on the app only to find that my gut feeling was correct.

“That moment was painful and it made the trust between us break in a way I couldn’t move past. That’s why when it was broken, it was something I simply could not overcome. I won’t lie I was deeply hurt and shocked but with time, I’ve healed and found peace. ”

Davide went onto clarify he holds no “bitterness towards Keye” and that he “genuinely wish him peace and happiness”.

And Keye expressed a similar sentiment saying how much he wants the best for Davide.

“I have nothing but love for him. What we shared was real, both in the experiment and in the months after. He deserves the absolute best, and I am devastated that my choices caused him pain,” he wrote on his post.

The couple were one of the first to get married on this year’s series and hit it off immediately, with their wedding day full of heartwarming and loving moments. They went through a few teething issues at the start of the relationship but after the first few weeks really settled into their relationship and became one of the strongest couples in the experiment.

We hope they’re both doing OK following their split.
