Air Transat Pilots To Hold Montréal and Toronto Informational Pickets on 17NOV

Air Transat pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), will demonstrate their commitment to secure a modern contract by holding informational pickets on Monday, November 17, at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

After 10 months of negotiations with minimal progress and more than a decade without a new collective agreement, Air Transat pilots will gather in solidarity to tell management it’s time to deliver a contract with improved benefits, job protection, work rules, and compensation.

The pilots have made considerable efforts over the past 10 years to support the airline, including accepting two contract extensions. Now, as the industry recovers and evolves, they are demanding a modern contract that reflects the realities of their profession.

The pilots are currently concluding a federally mandated conciliation period, which ends on November 18. On November 19, Air Transat and its pilots will enter a 21-day cooling-off period, after which a strike or lockout could occur as early as December 10.

This informational picket will bring together Air Transat pilots, ALPA members from across Canada and the United States, as well as fellow union supporters in a show of solidarity.
