Bruins Make Several Roster Moves Before Hurricanes Clash

The Boston Bruins won for the eighth time in the past nine games on Saturday when they handed the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 defeat. However, continuing to win games could prove difficult if injuries continue flaring up for this team.

During their win over the Canadiens, the B’s lost star defenseman Charlie McAvoy after he took a puck to the face. McAvoy is going to miss some time recovering from this tough break, but he isn’t the only player banged up for the time being.

Ahead of the team’s upcoming contest against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Bruins made a handful of roster moves. The most important of the bunch saw forwards Viktor Arvidsson and Casey Mittelstadt land on injured reserve.

“The team has placed forwards Viktor Arvidsson (Date of Injury: Nov. 15) and Casey Mittelstadt (Date of Injury: Nov. 6) on injured reserve; placed defenseman Jordan Harris (Date of Injury: Oct. 21) on long-term injured reserve; recalled forwards Matej Blumel and Riley Tufte from Providence,” the Bruins announced on their official website.

Both Arvidsson and Mittelstadt have enjoyed strong starts to the season. The veteran Arvidsson has six goals and four assists through 20 games played, while Mittelstadt has potted four goals and dished out five assists so far.

This will make life even more difficult for head coach Marco Sturm when it comes to piecing his lines together, but he’s managed to do a solid job so far this season, and the team is on a roll, which could make things a hair easier for him. Boston will look to continue its winning ways against Carolina, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Monday night.
