Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh rewears a favourite midi dress in Peru – it’s back in stock but selling out fast

It’s been a busy week for The Duchess of Edinburgh, who has been in Peru – on behalf of the Foreign and Development Office – to celebrate more than 200 years of relations between the nation and the UK. The Royal Family shared photographs from The Duchess’ engagements so far, and we spotted that Sophie had relied on one of her favourite midi dresses for the visit.
Sophie is currently travelling between a number of South and Central American locations during her eight-day visit, which comes to a close this Wednesday (19 November). So far, she has visited Indigenous Women’s Rights Defenders to hear about their role in supporting ‘territorial governance, tackling environmental crime and climate change’. She also learnt about biodiversity in the Amazon, met with local school children, visited teams delivering social eye care programmes and spoke with female artisans.
For the varied trip, Sophie needed wardrobe staples she could rely on, and she turned to one of her favourite pieces, the ‘Nancy – Bunting’ dress by LexyLondon. The midi dress is £220 and comes in sizes 6 to 16 – although some sizes are beginning to sell out already…

The last time Sophie wore the same dress was back in August, during an emotional visit to Wiltshire. The Duchess was there to meet a very special veteran, ahead of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day – 105-year-old former Royal Marine, James ‘Jim’ Wren. The pair met at Mr Wren’s care home in Salisbury, and Sophie was able to hear more about his remarkable story.

‘Mr Wren survived the sinking of HMS Repulse in 1941 and was later a Prisoner of War for three and a half years, having been captured whilst escaping from Singapore in February 1942,’ explained the Royal Family in an official post. Sophie is Patron of The Java Far East Prisoner of War Club 1942, so it was a special visit for her ahead of the historic anniversary.
