Aion 2: How to Download Anywhere in the World

With the release of Aion 2 coming in a couple of days overseas, a lot of western players are eager to get their hands on NCSoft’s 2009 sequel. Aion 2 not only looks to improve upon what they set up over fifteen years ago, but have created quite possibly one of the most beautiful and fluid MMORPGs we’ve ever seen. Whether or not it’s something that has staying power is still in the air, as NCSoft does not have the best track record with its monetization methods, but regardless, there’s an immense amount of potential for the sequel.
While the MMORPG release is hitting Korea, it’s also coming to another region before our own. Considering MMORPG players are feeling a bit starved for something to stick to, we have a guide that will help you gain access to the MMORPG for its full release on November 19.
Registering for an Account
Aion 2 will be hitting both Korea and Taiwan on November 19, but only one of them can be played by players outside their respective region. Korea requires far too many personalized restrictions, so that’s out of the question, but the Taiwanese version only requires an account registered under the Taiwan region.
Unfortunately, pre-registration is no longer available, but you can head to NCSoft’s website to get things started. From here, click on the second link in the top right corner of the website that will download the Purple launcher.
- Make sure your region is set to “Global” above the “Login with an email.”
-
Sign up with one of the methods:
- Sign up with email address
- The Google icon below “sign in with a different account.”
- Join Purple at the bottom
- Please note, if you have a western account associated with this email, you won’t be able to do this. Instead, use a secondary email address.
- Select “Taiwan” when the Location and Birthdate option comes up.
- Login through the Purple launcher.
- Go to “STORE” and locate AION2.
With this, you’ll be able to download Aion 2 when the game releases on November 19 (November 18 in North America).
Changing the Settings to English
Now that the game is in your profile, and you’re ready to play, there’s one thing most western players will want to do: change the settings to English. While this is a game that was adapted for Korean and Taiwanese audiences, it has still been fully converted into English (at least the text as the voice work will likely be done with the global release).
Launcher
From the launcher, all you will need to do is click the “File Scan and Game Settings”, which will bring up a long menu. From here go up to the “Text” menu, and it will show you three different text options, one of them being English.
In-Game
If you start the game without changing the settings, worry not, as you’re able to change it within the game, but it will require navigating the Chinese menus. From the start of the menu, click on the top right gear, which generally indicates the settings.
When in this menu, go to the last tab. Here, select the first option’s drop-down menu that will reveal the same options while in the launcher. Simply select the English option and everything will convert to the language.
