Belarus and Greece wrap up their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign when they lock horns at ZTE Arena on Tuesday. Both sides are out of contention for a place in the global tournament and will be looking to end the campaign on a positive note.
Belarus were denied their first win in the World Cup qualifiers on Saturday when they played out a 2-2 draw with Denmark after conceding a 79th-minute equalizer at the Parken Stadium.
This was a relatively positive result for Carlos Alos Ferrer’s men, who had suffered defeat in each of their previous five matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 friendly loss against Russia in June.
Belarus are one of 12 sides yet to taste victory in the qualifiers, losing four and claiming one draw to sit rock-bottom in Group C with one point from a possible 15.
On the other hand, Greece turned in an attacking show of class last Saturday when they secured a 3-2 victory over Scotland at the Karaiskakis Stadium.
However, the result over Scotland mattered little for Ivan Jovanovic’s men, who had lost each of their previous three group games, a run which saw their quest for a first World Cup appearance since 2014 come to an end.
Greece currently sit third in the Group C standings with six points from a possible 15, four points behind second-placed Scotland in the playoff spot.
