Manchester United are expected to be busy in the January transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad – and one player has already admitted he would love to join the Red Devils

Manchester United are set for a busy January transfer window

Manchester United could be closing in on a potential fix for one positional headache that’s been troubling the squad for quite some time.

This comes after the player concerned confessed it would be a “dream” to don the Red Devils jersey someday. Ruben Amorim is fresh from a transfer window that has delivered tremendously positive results at United.

The impact has been so significant that Sir Alex Ferguson has publicly endorsed one particular acquisition. It remains unclear just how active United will be when the January transfer window swings open.

Nevertheless, recent indicators are encouraging as we head further into winter, with Daily Star Sport examining the latest developments surrounding Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz has thrown his hat into the ring as a prospective future signing for Amorim after declaring it would be a “dream come true” to represent United.

The Colombian is enjoying an outstanding second campaign at Selhurst Park but recently named the Red Devils amongst his preferred transfer targets, reports the Mirror.

“First of all, I think there’s a lot of talk about one club or another,” he revealed to AS. “If you ask me, it would be a dream come true to play for one of these clubs, whether it’s Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid, or Manchester United.”

Amad Diallo is presently filling that position, whilst Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot have provided cover when available.

Even before Amorim’s appointment, questions lingered over whether the right flank of the defence possessed the necessary quality.

Although Munoz falls on the senior side of United’s typical transfer strategy, this could theoretically lower the fee Palace might demand for him. Following his impressive displays under Oliver Glasner, the former Genk star could prove to be a subtle solution.

Sir Alex Ferguson praises ‘outstanding’ signing

Among the wave of new arrivals that landed at Old Trafford during the summer, players like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have emerged as standout performers.

The duo were part of a £200million offensive overhaul that also included Benjamin Sesko, with supporters largely pleased by their contributions thus far.

However, Ferguson’s focus was primarily on the other end of the pitch, as he discussed the new signing that has made the most significant impact. The United legend has been delighted by the improvement Senne Lammens has brought to the goalkeeping position.

“There are signs, the manager has had some good signs,” he shared with Raceday RTV. “Particularly the goalkeeper has been outstanding, he’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.

“Of course, Mbeumo and Cunha, the new players from Wolves and Brentford, they’ve added to it. I hope the manager gets a bit of success because at United you need to have success – the signs are getting better.

“I think back-to-back wins is something teams like United should always expect. But having gone through a cycle where the improvement has to come by waiting and being patient, they’ll enjoy it now.”
