Warriors vs. Magic injury report: Jonathan Kuminga, Paolo Banchero out

The Golden State Warriors are taking on the Orlando Magic today in the first game of a Floridian back-to-back that will wrap up their six-game road trip. With a win tonight, they would secure a winning record on that trip — no small feat after losing six of their first seven road games — and extend their season-high winning streak to four games.

Neither team is at full strength, though, as tends to be the case this time of year. Here’s the full injury report.

Out — Jonathan Kuminga (bilateral knee patellar tendonitis)

Kuminga’s out for this game, but his return is right around the corner. Steve Kerr sounded hopeful that JK can lace them up on Wednesday when the Dubs head to South Beach to visit the Miami Heat.

Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)

Melton is probably only two or three weeks away. He’s wrapping up his rehab, as evidenced by the fact that he’s accompanied the Dubs on this six-game, five-city trip.

Available — Buddy Hield (illness)

Hield popped up on the injury report due to a sickness, but is good to go. So it would appear he didn’t get whatever Steph Curry did!

Out — Paolo Banchero (left groin strain)

The Dubs are catching a break by facing a Magic team that is without their young face of the franchise. Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in 2022, will miss his third consecutive game after suffering an injury in the first half of a game on Wednesday.

Out — Mo Wagner (left knee injury recovery)

The less heralded of the Magic’s pair of Wagner brothers remains out as he repairs an ACL tear from December. That timeline means we’ll probably see him in January or February.

Questionable — Jalen Suggs (sore right groin)

Injuries have been one of the few stains on the resume for Suggs, who was taken fifth overall in the 2021 draft … two spots ahead of Kuminga.

Available — Franz Wagner (facemask)

Wagner has become an excellent co-star alongside Banchero, and is averaging 23.1 points per game this season. Orlando will be relying on him heavily with Banchero out, and they’ll be hoping the facemask doesn’t impact him too much.

Enjoy the action, Dub Nation. You can catch the 4:00 p.m. PT tip-off on NBC Sports Bay Area.
