Knies has skated in all 19 games for the Leafs this year, and has five goals and ranks third on the team with 22 points.
He joins an ever-growing list of players dealing with injuries in Toronto, as TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston points out that the team will now be missing Knies, Auston Matthews, Nicolas Roy, Scott Laughton, Chris Tanev, Brandon Carlo and Anthony Stolarz.

“Listen, I get it. We’re down a lot of guys,” head coach Craig Berube said on Monday regarding the bad injury luck the team has faced in November. “[Replacements] got to step up and next man-up mentality and go play.”
Toronto enters Tuesday’s game against St. Louis riding a five-game winless streak – their longest since April of 2021.
