Trail Blazers done in by a buzzer beater in Orlando

The Portland Trail Blazers were on the verge of an unlikely victory only to fumble the ball away and see Desmond Bane swish a 3-pointer from the sideline for a 115-112 Orlando win Monday night.
Portland overcame a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter, cutting it to a one-possession game on a Deni Avdija triple with less than a minute to play. The Blazers grabbed the upper hand when Jerami Grant dunked down an alley-oop and buried a foul shot for a 112-110 lead with 0:11 to play.
Orlando answered with a quick layup to even the score, setting the stage for the wild finish.
Portland started fast and grew a lead to as many as seven points in the first quarter, but the Magic grabbed the edge by the end of the period and maintained it most of the rest of the way.
Shaedon Sharpe led Portland with 31 points, while Avdija added 27.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 28 points.
Portland continues its road trip of the South at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a stop in New Orleans.
