Kate Winslet shares positive outlook on ageing after turning 50

Kate Winslet has recently reflected on positive effects of ageing at 50.

During an appearance on latest episode of How to Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast on November 17, the Titanic star explains how growing old has helped her feel more comfortable with her body.

“I’m great with it. I think I look flipping amazing,” says Kate.

Revolutionary Road actress notes that she has learned to see ageing in a different light over the years.

“We’re so conditioned, women in our 40s, to think, OK, well, I’m creeping closer to the end,” mentions Kate.

The Reader actress continues, “You know, you think you go into menopause and you’re going to stop having sex, and your boobs are going to sag, and your skin’s going to go crepey, and all these things.”

“But first of all, so what? And secondly, it’s just conditioning,” states Kate.

Elsewhere in the interview, The Holiday actress points out that as the women get older, they gain confidence and come to terms with their body.

“I think women, as they get older, become more embedded in their truth and who they are, and more powerful, and more able to walk through the world and care less. And that is an empowering thing,” remarks Kate.

Meanwhile, the actress shares that as she grows older, she starts focusing her health.

“Exercise for me is not actually about looking a certain way. It’s about not getting injured,” says Kate while talking about her preferences.

Therefore, Kate adds, “I don’t hurt myself in my life because I always want to swim in the cold water, and I always want to be able to hike for five hours.”
