British ‘Kremlin mouthpiece’ faces Met Police war crimes probe after filming sick videos in Ukraine

A British ex-civil servant is being probed by the Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Team after posting disturbing footage of Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.

Graham Phillips, 46, is the first Briton to face war crime charges in the conflict after posting content which included showing pigs eating soldiers’ remains.

Footage captured by Mr Phillips also shows the mistreatment of captured 31-year-old Briton Aiden Aslin.

In the pig video, posted in August 2022, a Russian soldier is seen retrieving an ID card from one of the bodies of a dead Ukrainian troop before Phillips can be heard asking: “Is Yuri tasty?”

Speaking in Russian, the Briton exclaims: “It’s a buffet! He’s also eating.

“Munching, munching, munching – they’re not even shy.”

Mr Phillips can be heard encouraging the pigs, telling them to “eat, be healthy,” and he makes no attempt to halt the grim scene.

He then adds: “It turns out he was useful for someone.”

Footage of the incident has since been handed over to the Met Police’s War Crimes Team, an arm of the Counter Terrorism Command.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed to The Sun last night that a probe has been ongoing since 2022 and that the War Crimes Team were “liasing” with the Crown Prosecution Service.

The investigation is believed to be looking into potential breaches of the Geneva Conventions.

According to Article 34 of the Convention, “The remains of persons who have died for reasons related to occupation or in detention resulting from occupation or hostilities… shall be respected.”

Discussing the footage last night, Mr Phillips told The Sun: “Why should I have intervened in that incident with the pigs?

“Those Ukrainian soldiers came to Donbas to murder the civilians of Donbas, who want to be with Russia, not part of the Ukrainian Nazi regime.

“They ended up becoming pig fodder.

“I could say it was pigs eating pigs, but that would be an insult to the pigs.”

The War Crimes team is also looking into footage of the Briton questioning Mr Aslin, who was seen handcuffed and bruised in the video.

The British man, who was serving in the Ukrainian armed forces, was heard being asked by Mr Phillips why he should not be put to death.

Mr Phillips was sanctioned by the Government in July 2022 for spreading Russian propaganda.

He has denied committing war crimes and has claimed the Met Police has not contacted him over the investigation.
