Who is Cooper Duff-Tytler? Meet the top AFL draft prospect

The Calder Cannons product hails from Woodend, a small town in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges, which is buzzing with anticipation ahead of Wednesday night’s draft.
Duff-Tytler, a mobile ruckman-forward, was a was a talented junior basketball star who was part of Australia’s under-16 team which claimed gold at the 2023 FIBA Asia Cup.
He’s tipped to be taken in the first three picks tonight and is firmly in the sights of West Coast who owns the first two picks.

Measuring 200.3cm and still growing, the athletic 18-year-old models his game on Fremantle’s Luke Jackson and St Kilda’s Tom De Koning and has drawn comparisons to both players with the way he goes about his work.
“My strengths are definitely my mobility and my ball handling for a tall,” Duff-Tytler told Code Sports recently.
“Once the ball hits the deck I can help out around the ground and act as another midfielder.”

The junior basketball star does things on the football field most other players his size simply can’t do. The Calder Cannons product – who looks up to Fremantle’s Luke Jackson – was named at half-forward in the under-18 All-Australian squad.
